UT ARLINGTON
"TAMING REACTIVE MOLECULES"
PROFESSOR RASIKA DIAS, UT-ARLINGTON
About the Talk: Metal-mediated reactions usually proceed via reactive species with fleeting existence. We have been able to stabilize some of these intermediates or closely related model compounds to obtain them in “bottle-able” form and investigate their structures, bonding, and properties.
About the Speaker: Dr. Dias joined the UT-Arlington faculty in 1992. An inorganic chemist, he has published around 150 papers in areas such as homogeneous catalysis, luminescent materials, metal coordination chemistry, and novel antimicrobial agents. He serves on the Editorial Advisory Boards for Inorganic Chemistry and Dalton Transactions, and in 2006 he won the College of Science Outstanding Achievement Award. His research has been featured on the covers of such journals as Inorganic Chemistry, Angewandte Chemie, and the European Journal of Inorganic Chemistry.
